Ju-Ju-Be Bag Review

My kids are out of diapers (yesssss!) but I’m still not at that stage where I can go back to my nice, pre-mom bags (ladies, you know what I’m talking about). I still need a bag that I can bring to the park and hold water bottles, snacks, wipes, etc. and still look cool. I also wanted something that would allow me to be hands-free because I am often out alone with my two kids and need all the help I can get. That’s why I LOVE the Ju-Ju-Be Be Right Back back pack. It’s big but not too big and has enough pockets but not too many so that I can find everything I need. It’s also extremely comfortable to wear and machine washable!

It comes with a memory foam changing pad but since I don’t change diapers anymore, I use it to cushion my laptop. Yes, it holds my 14″ laptop and since I work from home, it’s nice to be able to carry my work stuff after I drop my kids off at school.

I love this bag. It suits my lifestyle because I’m either out with my kids, working at an event, or toting my computer around. If a backpack isn’t your style, Ju-Ju-Be has a ton of other lines that suits anyone’s needs. Great for travel, too!

Santa’s helpers take note! With over 24,000 handmade creations to choose from, holiday gift giving gets the personal touch when the Pomona Harvest Festival® Original Art & Craft Show comes to the Fairplex December 1-3. Three hundred artful exhibitors ring in the season with dazzling, original works, transforming the Fairplex into a winter wonderland “shoppertunity.” With strolling performers, contests, crafting demonstrations, and an interactive Kidzone, it’s a yuletide celebration for all ages.

Over the past 45 years, the Harvest Festival has grown to become recognized as the largest indoor arts & crafts showcase on the west coast. The nation’s top artists and crafters come together in this juried showcase to celebrate the holiday season with a colossal collection of original works never found in malls.  Exhibits are brimming with new trends in jewelry, ceramics, blown glass, woodcarvings, clothing and accessories, holiday décor, ornaments, specialty foods, furniture, kids toys, and more, all at unbeatable prices. For that special gift of the heart, many artists can personalize purchases on the spot.

“The minute you walk through the door you can’t help but get into the spirit of the holidays,” says Harvest Festival owner Nancy Glenn. “We work year-round to put together an exciting celebration that unites Festival goers with the artists who share their passion. It makes holiday gift giving more of a special, personalized experience.”

The event gives back to the community by partnering with the Foothill Family Shelter to offer $2 off general admission to any patrons who bring canned goods for donation. Macaroni Kid hosts the interactive Kidzone, while Priceless Pet Rescue is on hand with furry friends for adoption. Gobble Gobble

Now that school has started and after-school activities and homework have begun, families are scrambling to make dinner at night. I know I am! There are a variety of meal delivery services out there so how do you know which one to choose?

img_1194I recently tried Gobble, a meal delivery service that requires about 10-15 minutes of prep work, unlike some of the other services that only require you to heat and serve.

I received three freshly hand-crafted dinner kits (each serves two adults) –which included ingredients that are already prepped and chopped so it didn’t take long to prepare the meal. Some dinners required one pan, others more.

The important part? The food was DELICIOUS! Way better than another service I tried where all I needed to do was pop a tray in the microwave. Yes, this takes a bit more prep time but it was worth it.

Did my kids eat it? Ok I confess, I have picky eaters so they did not eat most of the Gobble food. I did have to prepare a separate meal for them, which almost defeats the purpose of a meal delivery service. But hey, at least I enjoyed a tasty dinner. And you get a LOT of food, which is good because I can eat!

Here’s the good news, Gobble is offering Mommytrain followers an exclusive discount, $50 off your first box when you sign up using this link:

CPR Party!

CHOKING IS NO JOKE

The other day I was telling a friend about a choking incident that Sofia had when she was 3 years old and how fortunate I was to have taken an infant CPR class. I was able to correctly and safely apply the CPR techniques to help her. True to her Brazilian roots, Sofia loves barbecue and choked on a big piece of “Picanha” steak. Despite the experience, she still loves Brazilian barbecue.

But no joke, this is a serious subject and while the incident happened some time ago, I feel I should freshen up on CPR techniques.  I discovered the Infant CPR & Choking Refresher Video and had an opportunity to talk to the CPR Instructor Ty Vaughn.  She happily agreed to share her video with us and to tell us more about the CPR Party.

“A CPR Party is an informal 2-hour comfortable way to learn valuable, life-saving techniques in CPR.  While enjoying refreshments in a relaxed environment of 5 or more individuals, a CPR Instructor guides attendees through the appropriate hands-on techniques and processes of saving a life. This approach offers attendees a more pleasant experience than in the traditional classroom setting.”

Calling all Mommies – doesn’t this sound awesome?  A get-together with your gang enjoying some food and wine (yes, I said wine!) to learn some life-saving techniques in a fun, fun way! Let’s get this party started! Who’s in?

Big Kid’s Pediped Shoes

I feel like I am always in a mad dash to find dress shoes for my two boys, age 5 and age 9. I wait way too long and then rush right before they really need nice shoes for holiday festivities (namely their annual school Christmas Program)! Then I spend way too much for a a couple pairs of uncomfortable dress shoes that they’ll likely never wear again.

Pediped shoes

To check out these awesome shoes click image.

A friend recently gifted us a pair of Pediped leather boots for molder son…and in perfect timing…t- minus 7 days til the Christmas Sing-along! I have always associated Pediped with infant shoes and remember having the cutest pairs of Pediped ‘first step’ mocassins when my kids were tiny. I hadn’t even thought to check the brand out again for ‘Big Kid’ styles and I’m thankful to be reintroduced to them.

I admit I love dressing my guys like they’re little men and I’m into the more mature look for them. At first glance the Pediped Flex Lionel Boots looked like amore fitting style for 5-7 year old at the oldest, but we tried them out anyway and were pleasantly surprised! They look much more sophisticated on and wear well with a casual jeans/cords look as well as with slacks. The shoes are made with a high quality leather upper with a contrast stitch and a cool red color pop. I’m a sucker for a pop of color on a muted tones! My son loves the way the boot feels and was running and dancing around in them like they were sneakers.

FullSizeRender1

I also love that Pediped’s Flex Fit SystFullSizeRender1em™ provides additional insoles that can be inserted for a snug fit then removed for room as yourchild’s foot grows. These insoles can reduce a shoe size by almost half a size, extending the life of the shoe. Brills!

:)Overall, we were really pleased with the boot and will definitely be wearing them a bunch this season. The only con I’d say is that they tend to run a bit on the small side, so I’d size up a half a size.

Thank you Pediped for the reintroduction! ’Tis the Season to get more outta those shoes!

xoxo
