Disney Jr.’s T.O.T.S. (Tiny Ones Transport Service)

This adorable new show from Disney Jr. follows the adventures of best friends Pip, a tiny penguin, and Freddy, a young flamingo, as they help the storks deliver baby animals to their parents all over the world. Were were invited to a sneak preview of the show that included an amazing brunch and goodies for the kids to take home! To top it off, we were joined by Tony- winning actress and voice of KC Kuala, Megan Hilty, and creator Travis Braun.

The show is adorable and the kids loved it! It teaches kids all about team work and problem solving, and includes fun songs for kids to sing and dance along to. The show comes out on June 14th. Find more information here: https://disneynow.go.com/.

DISNEY ON ICE presents Dare to Dream – Review

This our 3rd year in a row that we’ve attended Disney on Ice. The kids love going and it’s a new show every year. “Dare to Dream” did not disappoint!

Moana made her debut this year and her segment was my favorite. We also really enjoyed the Rapunzel act as she sailed through the air and performed acrobatics on dangling silk fabric. And what would Disney on Ice be without Ana and Elsa?

Disney on Ice is always so much fun for us and like I said, this year’s show is brand new. We were even serenaded by Miguel from “Coco” before the show started! We attended the show at Staples Center and parked in a lot 2 blocks away for $10. We also saved money by buying a light up wand from a local street vendor instead of at the show.

Disney on Ice is the perfect event if your family is staying in the LA area for the holidays. Use code Mom20 on select dates below for a 20% discount. Have fun! IMG_7231 facebooktwittergoogle_pluspinterestrss

Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse – Movie Review

We were invited to attend a preview screening of the movie and the press junket where we had the opportunity to meet the film makers and cast of the movie. The movie did not disappoint!

I knew nothing about this movie beforehand. Yes, I knew Spider-Man but I had no idea who Miles Morales was. We would drive by the billboard and my son would shout out, “I want to see that!” And in the quick moment that I could look while I was driving I knew it was a Spider-Man movie and that there was also a pig.

Mile Morales is not your typical Spider-Man. I love that he comes from a multi-racial background. In fact, all of the super heroes in this movie are not what you would expect to see. The movie is also pretty funny, which the adults can appreciate. I would say that this movie would be good for ages 7 and up but of course, it depends on the child.

When meeting with the cast and film makers, you could tell that they felt an enormous amount of passion for this movie. In fact, Shameik Moore, who voices Miles Morales, told us that he before he was cast for the movie, he had written in his journal, “I am Miles Morales.” Talk about the power of visualization and realizing your intentions!

This is a great film that both kids and adults will enjoy. It opens December 14, go see it!

Coming Soon: Disney on Ice!

Vampirates Pirate Dinner Adventure Show

We were invited back to the Pirate Dinner Adventure Show for their Halloween-themed show, Vampirates! It was a whole new swashbuckling Halloween themed treat that runs October 5th-October 31st. The kids loved it! The show was super entertaining and there were many comedic moments that made the kids laugh out loud.

Every guest is assigned a team color when they enter and we were on the purple team again. I have to say our purple pirate team leader was the funniest pirate of them all. We IMG_6754 loved the sword fighting, stunts and acrobatics. Those Vampirates know how to put on a great show.

The food is pretty good: chicken, shrimp, veggies, mashed potatoes, cake and soup or salad for the adults. Fruit, mac n’ cheese, and chicken nuggets for the kids. We all got dessert and non-alcoholic drinks are included. Tip: if you want to drink alcohol, get there about 30 minutes early and buy your drink at the bar before you enter the theater. The bar closes once the show starts and you may have to wait a while for a drink server.

What Moms REALLY want for Mother’s Day

I’m not a big fan of Mother’s Day. Or Valentine’s Day, New Year’s Eve, Father’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day or a lot of other holidays. Do we really need to celebrate every single holiday throughout the year? I think not. But since I’m a mother, I guess I am entitled to day celebrating ME! So how do I want to celebrate? I want to be home, ALONE! I want their dad to take the kids out for the day, all day. Feed them, entertain them, take them to the potty, anything really as long as they are wearing sunscreen and staying hydrated and I don’t want have to do it. Why go out to an overpriced brunch? I can make my own eggs at home for a fraction of the cost.

So what would I do at home? Lie on the couch and binge watch my favorite shows. Eat ice cream out in the open since I’m usually hiding it from my kids so I don’t have to share. Cook the food that I like to eat that no one else in my family does like beets, eggplant and mushrooms.

Mother’s Day should be a day off from parenting, in my opinion. How do you like to spend Mother’s Day?facebooktwittergoogle_pluspinterestrss

Pirates Dinner Adventure – Review

My family and I had the pleasure of attending Pirates Dinner Adventure on Saturday night in Buena Park and it was awesome! It’s an interactive dinner show that entertained us the entire time we were there – about an hour and 45 minutes. You can arrive up to 2 hours before the show starts for free appetizers but we didn’t think the 3 year old would be able to sit still for 4 hours.

The food was GOOD – adult meals consist of a quarter chicken, mashed potatoes, shrimp skewer and veggies. You can upgrade and get the lobster if you want. Kids meals include mac n’ cheese, chicken nuggets, veggies and mashed potatoes. All meals come with soup or salad, cake and soft drinks. Alcohol is extra.

The show was amazing! The pirates were funny and entertaining. There were sword fights, acrobatics, comedy and even a loch ness monster! Kids even have the option to participate in the show if they want. The boys, ages 4 and 8, loved it. Some parts may be a little scary for the 3 and under crowd.

Overall, it was a really fun night for the family, and definitely worth the drive if you are coming from LA. Find more information here: http://piratesdinneradventureca.com/.

Kango – Uber for Kids!

As parents, we often feel like all we ever do is drive our kids around – drop off/pick up from school, after school activities, play dates…it’s endless! Are we parents or are we chauffeurs? That’s why the Kango app is so convenient – you can schedule rides, childcare, or both! All drivers are background-checked, fingerprinted caregivers who are trained to transport kids. And all cars have carseats and/or booster seats!

We scheduled a ride from West LA to downtown this weekend and it was awesome. The app is very user-friendly and within minutes of setting up my account, I had a driver confirmed. The kids LOVED the ride (note: not all drivers use the company van, many use their own vehicles). Each seat had its own media screen for movies, shows and games. I think they enjoyed the ride as much as the Grammy Museum and the Harlem Globetrotters!

At each step of the way, the app sent me notifications, which comes in handy when Kango drives my kids around and I’m not with them. I know exactly when my ride is confirmed, when they’ve picked up the kids, and when the ride is complete. Since you can also book childcare, you can have the driver stay with your kid for as long as you need.

This service is so convenient, I will definitely use it again! facebooktwittergoogle_pluspinterestrss
